Peru thanks Qatar for providing medical aid

Qatar’s embassy in Lima has handed over medical aid from Qatar Charity to Peru in support of its efforts to confront the outbreak of the coronaviru­s pandemic.

The aid delivery ceremony was attended by Peru’s Minister of Health Dr Pilar Mazzetti, Vice Minister of Defence Resources Gen Jose Boggiano Romano, Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Directorat­e General of Africa, Middle East and Gulf countries ambassador Carlos Zapata Lopez, a number of senior officials in the Peruvian government, and Qatar’s ambassador to Peru Ali bin Hamad al-Sulaiti.

Dr Mazzetti expressed thanks to Qatar’s government and people for the humanitari­an stance towards Peru and its support for the health sector to confront the pandemic, and for providing medical aid to her country.

Ambassador Lopez also expressed thanks and appreciati­on to Qatar for standing by Peru as it combats the spread of Covid-19, stressing the depth of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

On behalf of the Peruvian Minister of Defence, Gen Romano extended thanks to Qatar and hailed its humanitari­an stance towards his country, as well as its valuable support that would allow frontline workers to fight the coronaviru­s pandemic.

He added that the assistance provided by Qatar will benefit his country when it is facing a difficult time.

Ambassador al-Sulaiti stressed Qatar’s humanitari­an role and its assistance to friendly countries to fight the pandemic, in addition to its keenness to stand by friendly countries affected by the spread of the virus.
