Ooredoo to hold third beach clean-up event

-

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator, will be holding its third beach clean-up event on September 19 to mark World Clean-up Day aimed at raising awareness on the importance of protecting the environment. Volunteer teams will be heading to Sealine beach – following all current safety protocols – to clean up anything not part of the natural environment.

In a press statement, Ooreddo said an added element of this latest event will be a clean-up of the seabed as well as the beach to ensure no rubbish is present in the water that could harm marine life.

To safely clean up the seabed, six scuba divers from Doha Divers Team will join the Ooredoo staff. Ooredoo will provide the necessary cleaning kits, visibility vests and snacks and beverages.

Ooredoo’s beach clean-up campaign, organised in collaboration with Friends of the Environment Centre, is designed to encourage beachgoers to clean up after themselves and take responsibility for picking up any rubbish left behind.

With the social media hashtag #LeaveOnlySandcastles, it focuses on keeping Qatar’s beaches clean for both the preservation of the marine environment and for the benefit of those visiting, ensuring anyone paying a visit

“We’re delighted to confirm our beach clean-up campaign is going from strength to strength, and proud to be hosting the third event in just a few weeks,” Ooredoo’s Public Relations director Sabah Rabiah al-Kuwari said.

“This initiative stems from our commitment to promoting the protection of our environment, in keeping with both our corporate responsibility strategy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“We’re rightly proud of the many participants who give up their time to support the initiative, despite the challenging weather conditions of late summer, and thank them yet again for all their hard work and effort,” the Ooredoo official added.
