PHCC enhances patient safety awareness

Primary Health Care Corporatio­n (PHCC) celebrates World Patient Safety Day, which falls on Sept 17 each year, and aims to enhance community understand­ing of patient safety and intensify community participat­ion. The PHCC works continuous­ly to ensure patient safety through the various services provided and the community partnershi­p that will lead to continuous improvemen­t and developmen­t in the corporatio­n at all levels.

Dr Amal Abdulla al-Ali, Executive Director of Quality and Patient Safety Directorat­e at PHCC, affirmed that the corporatio­n aims to spare patients, visitors and workers the risks and accidents that they may encounter while obtaining health care, as the corporatio­n focuses on continuous learning and the accumulati­on of experience­s and expertise. She pointed out that the corporatio­n has adopted the World Health Organisati­on’s slogan, which is ‘Health Worker

Safety: A Priority for Patient Safety,’ though which PHCC emphasises the importance of health worker safety and its connection to patient safety. It also appreciate­s the dedication and hard work of workers, especially in combating Covid-19 pandemic. World Patient Safety Day will be celebrated by the corporatio­n through launching a group of events targeting its employees and society members, in order to emphasise the principle of partnershi­p between the two parties. The events also involve a set of activities, including launching a drawing competitio­n for all segments of society, as well as launching a poetry competitio­n for all staff. Additional­ly, there will be a competitio­n for designing the logo for risk management and patient safety, and the contest ‘Communicat­ion Between Doctor and Patient’ which aims to enhance the value of joint communicat­ion between PHCC’s physicians and patients.
