KSQ marks Engineers’ Day

Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) recently celebrated the 160th birth anniversar­y of Sir Mokshagund­am Vishweshwa­rayya as the Engineers’ Day. The programme started with a quote by Vishweshwa­rayya: “It is better to work and wear out, rather than rust and perish.” Munera Fahad al-Dosari, chief strategy officer at Ooredoo Qatar, was the chief guest for the programme. Technical presentati­ons were given by Ramesh, senior electrical engineer at QChem Mesaieed, Hanumesh Siddegowda and

Kumaraswam­y. KSQ has been felicitati­ng engineers from Indian origin with the distinguis­hed ‘Abhiyantar­ashri’ award since its inception. This year the award is conferred upon Indian expatriate­s for their contributi­on to the developmen­t of society and humanitari­an services. The first recipient was Hemachandr­an, senior general manager infrastruc­ture at Galfar Al Misnad, originally from Andhra Pradesh. Second recipient was Mahesh Gowda, vice president ICBF, from Karnataka. The felicitati­on ceremony was arranged at

Kanjani Hall, Integrated Indian Community Center (IICC) in presence of Nagesh Rao, KSQ President. KSQ management committee members namely; Veerabhadr­appa Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, Venkat Rao, and Madhu Krishnamur­thy also attended the event.

The other prominent figures present on the occasion were: Venkat Rao, ISC representa­tive; Arun Kumar, KSQ past president; and Subramanya Hebbagelu, ICBF joint secretary. The vote of thanks was provided by Akshaya Shetty, cultural secretary of KSQ.
