KSQ marks Engineers’ Day
Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) recently celebrated the 160th birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwarayya as the Engineers’ Day. The programme started with a quote by Vishweshwarayya: “It is better to work and wear out, rather than rust and perish.” Munera Fahad al-Dosari, chief strategy officer at Ooredoo Qatar, was the chief guest for the programme. Technical presentations were given by Ramesh, senior electrical engineer at QChem Mesaieed, Hanumesh Siddegowda and
Kumaraswamy. KSQ has been felicitating engineers from Indian origin with the distinguished ‘Abhiyantarashri’ award since its inception. This year the award is conferred upon Indian expatriates for their contribution to the development of society and humanitarian services. The first recipient was Hemachandran, senior general manager infrastructure at Galfar Al Misnad, originally from Andhra Pradesh. Second recipient was Mahesh Gowda, vice president ICBF, from Karnataka. The felicitation ceremony was arranged at
Kanjani Hall, Integrated Indian Community Center (IICC) in presence of Nagesh Rao, KSQ President. KSQ management committee members namely; Veerabhadrappa Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, Venkat Rao, and Madhu Krishnamurthy also attended the event.
The other prominent figures present on the occasion were: Venkat Rao, ISC representative; Arun Kumar, KSQ past president; and Subramanya Hebbagelu, ICBF joint secretary. The vote of thanks was provided by Akshaya Shetty, cultural secretary of KSQ.
