Ap­pli­ca­tions for op­er­at­ing pri­vate schools to be ac­cepted from Nov 1

The Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion and Higher Ed­u­ca­tion (MoEHE) has an­nounced that ap­pli­ca­tions for li­cens­ing and op­er­at­ing new pri­vate schools and kinder­gartens for the 2021-2022 aca­demic year will be re­ceived from Novem­ber 1 un­til De­cem­ber 31.

Through a no­ti­fi­ca­tion in lo­cal me­dia, the min­istry said it has set conditions and re­quire­ments per­tain­ing to the owner, premises and aca­demic as­pect of the new schools and kinder­gartens in ac­cor­dance with the Pri­vate School Li­cens­ing Man­ual.

The ap­pli­cant should not be an em­ployee of the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion and Higher Ed­u­ca­tion or of any of its af­fil­i­ated bod­ies, the no­ti­fi­ca­tion states. A copy of the ap­pli­cant’s ID card is re­quired, and the ap­pli­cant should not be less than 21 years of age.

Ap­pli­ca­tions have to be sub­mit­ted on­line through the MoEHE web­site http://www.edu.gov.qa.

In­vestors can ap­ply for pri­vate school li­cences in Novem­ber and De­cem­ber of each year through the school reg­is­tra­tion por­tal, ac­cord­ing to in­for­ma­tion avail­able on the min­istry’s web­site.

Last year, the MoEHE re­ceived ap­pli­ca­tions for li­cens­ing and op­er­at­ing new pri­vate schools and kinder­gartens from Novem­ber 3 un­til De­cem­ber 31.

The conditions for ap­prov­ing an ap­pli­ca­tion to open a pri­vate school in­clude hav­ing a suit­able build­ing ac­cord­ing to the set stan­dards and ob­tain­ing the Civil De­fence ap­proval re­gard­ing safety and se­cu­rity conditions, as well as all other nec­es­sary ap­provals from var­i­ous au­thor­i­ties con­cerned, among oth­ers, ac­cord­ing to ear­lier re­ports.
