QTTSC announces winners of traffic safety ambassadors
The Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Centre (QTTSC) recently named the winners of the Traffic Safety Ambassadors Programme running in co-ordination with Ministry of Interior and the National Committee for Traffic Safety. The initiative supported by Qapco aims to raise awareness of the importance of traffic safety to inculcate safe driving behaviours among school students and the community.
First place among the boys went to Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys, and second place went to Ahmed Bin Hanbal School for Boys. Among girls’ schools, Dukhan School for Girls won the first place, while Aisha Bent Abi Baker School was second.
The student ambassadors were guided on road safety and awareness campaigns by QU and General Directorate of Traffic staff members. Present at the event was QTTSC director Dr Mohamed Yousef AlQaradawi, Col Mohamed Radi al-Hajri, director of the Media and Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, besides National Committee of Traffic Safety representatives, as well as CENG faculty, staff, students and their mentors.
Commenting on the event, Col al-Hajri said: “Through this initiative, the General Directorate of Traffic is encouraging secondary schools’ students to be a part of the traffic safety awareness programme and play a vital role in spreading this culture within the community, and schools to find solutions to traffic safety challenges”.”
QTTSC director Dr AlQaradawi added, “The QTTSC team is pleased to involve secondary school students in this initiative that is jointly run in co-ordination with the centre’s partners for the benefit of all stakeholders who are committed to support QTTSC events targeting the community and schools through campaigns, initiatives and public events.”
