Atotal of 2,700 male and female students and parents have qualified for the final exams of Al-Mohadeth Al-Sagheer examination by the General Administration of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs.

The exam is held in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) within the activities of Awqaf’s Endowment Bank for the Qur’an and Sunnah.

General Administration of Endowments director general Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohamed bin Ghanim al-Thani recalled that last year, due to unexpected circumstances, the competition had to be stopped.

“However, this year, we were keen to complete it and worked to develop ways to organise it,” he said.

The number of girls reached 1,344 while 1,177 boys attended along with 107 female and 72 male parents.

Students from more than 400 schools for boys and girls attended the examination, with some vocational schools and new schools participating this year.

According to Sheikh Dr alThani, this year the competition witnessed a large participation of schools and new methods of conducting student exams.

The registration for the competition is completely electronic, with all communication with schools being through the competition website or the competition social media accounts.

“We were keen to equip the examination halls for the arbitrators in accordance with the health standards that stipulate social distancing, wearing masks, and the presence of all sanitisation materials,” the official added.
