Three out of every four people aged 16 years and above in Qatar have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, data published by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) yesterday show.

The MoPH said 3,249,265 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country since the start of the programme, with 22,957 doses given in the past 24 hours. A break-up of the data reveals that 1,760,633 people have been vaccinated with at least one dose while 1,488,632 have got both doses.

With this, 75.3% of the population aged 16 years and above have now received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 64.2% have received both doses.

Also, 93.1% of people above 40 years have been vaccinated with at least one dose while 84% have got both doses. As for people above 60 years (the most vulnerable population group), 97.6% have received at least one dose and 92.5% both doses.

Meanwhile, the MoPH yesterday reported 64 new confirmed cases of

Covid-19 among the community and 57 among travellers, Qatar News Agency reported. It also recorded 189 recoveries from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 220,449.

“In recent weeks, the combined impact of Covid-19 restrictions and increasing vaccination rates, and the overwhelming support of the community, has resulted in a consistent reduction in the number of new daily infections in the country,” the ministry said in a statement yesterday.
