Ministry, QC launch programme to support humanitarian leaders
T he Ministry of Sports and Youth and Qatar Charity launched yesterday a training programme aimed at qualifying youth leaders in humanitarian and development respects, with the participation of HE the Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, CEO of Qatar Charity Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, and a number of officials.
The Fazaa Al Adaam Youth programme aims to qualify and train 20 young men and women to provide them with the foundations and standards of humanitarian and development work locally and internationally, and to learn about the experiences of managing humanitarian work by presenting various projects in this field.
It also provides an opportunity for young people to launch humanitarian projects, and follow different standards and models in this regard, as well as mechanisms and methods for implementing projects, and providing special reports to donors and stakeholders.
Participants in the programme will be able to experience realistic experiences through technical field visits that complement the theoretical experience, and carry out the technical procedures followed in terms of analysing needs and collecting information, in addition to following up and evaluating the implemented projects, and submitting technical reports on them.
Director of Youth Affairs Department Fawaz al-Misifari said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Fazaa Youth programme stems from the ministry’s vision aimed at preparing active and responsible Qatari youth with a sense of patriotism, aware of the humanitarian and development work and its societal impact, and able to understand the surrounding challenges to create a better tomorrow, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
He added that the programme would prepare young people capable of contributing to the development of the humanitarian and development field in Qatar, and to contribute to strengthening its reputation at the international level as an active country in the field of humanitarian and international development.
He added that the programme “Shabab Fazaa” reflects social responsibility and a sense of others, as the people of Qatar are known for their quick response to providing relief to the needy and answering the call, which has been a Qatari approach since time immemorial, and will represent an essential tool for highlighting young people who are able to contribute effectively in the humanitarian and development work sector.
For his part, Assistant CEO of the programmes and Community Development Sector at Qatar Charity, Faisal Rashid al-Fehaida, said in a similar statement to QNA that the programme was approved between the Ministry of Sports and Youth and Qatar Charity with the aim of co-operation and partnership in the field of humanitarian and development work, highlighting the preparation of young leaders in humanitarian and development work.
He added that the idea of the programme is to form leaders in humanitarian and development work, and to enhance their skills and experiences locally and internationally, as a group of young people of both genders will participate in the programme according to specific criteria that serve the goal of the programme, and provide them with 16 workshops, focusing on international law, the impact of media on humanitarian work, risk and crisis management, planning and development projects, relief, and many of those similar disciplines.
A field trip will also be organised within the programme to visit Qatar Charity projects for refugees and displaced persons abroad, he said.
