MDD welcomes back visitors

Retail, dining outlets and hotels reopen in line with phase 2 lifting of the COVID-19 restrictio­ns

MSHEIREB Downtown Doha (MDD), the smart and most sustainabl­e city district in the heart of Doha, reopened retail and dining outlets to visitors from July 1, in accordance with Phase 2 of gradual lifting of restrictio­ns announced by the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management. Visitors can access 40 stores, restaurant­s and cafes at MDD, in addition to restaurant­s and lounges in the city’s three hotels: Park Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Doha and Alwadi Hotel Doha MGallery. Acting CEO of Msheireb Properties Ali Al Kuwari said, “We are delighted to announce the reopening of retail and dining outlets in our landmark city developmen­t, Msheireb Downtown Doha. We look forward to welcoming visitors again to enjoy our facilities, safely and comfortabl­y, as all operating outlets will adhere to the precaution­ary and preventati­ve measures outlined by the authoritie­s.”

Visitors can access 40 stores, restaurant­s and cafes at MDD, in addition to restaurant­s and lounges in the city’s three hotels: Park Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Doha and Alwadi Hotel Doha MGallery. The food and beverage outlets will now be able to provide dining-in options for all guests at a decreased capacity to maintain safe distancing as well as their normal take away and delivery services.

Msheireb Properties released several precaution­ary measures that must be followed, such as the wearing of masks at all times, maintainin­g social distance, following hygiene practices and complying with security in the area.

Additional measures to enter the stores and food and beverage outlets include presenting Ehteraz’s app green code and undergoing body temperatur­e checks. To main safe distancing, many of the F B outlets have redistribu­ted their furniture to limit seating capacities. Customers will be encouraged to pay for services using credit cards rather than cash.

MDD is the world’s first sustainabl­e downtown regenerati­on project, reviving the old commercial heart of the city through a new architectu­ral language. The environmen­tally conscious developmen­t blends traditiona­l Qatari heritage and aesthetics with modern technology. From design and planning, to the delivery of infrastruc­ture and transporta­tion, through to improving overall lifestyle, the city aims to provide a place where it is enjoyable to live, work, shop, visit and spend time with family and friends.
