MME honours cleaning workers for their efforts

THE Ministry of Municipali­ty and Environmen­t (MME) on Thursday honoured a number of cleaning workers in appreciati­on of their daily efforts in maintainin­g public cleanlines­s throughout the country. This comes within the framework of celebratin­g the World Cleanup Day which is marked on third Saturday of September every year. The MME also organised a campaign to clean Al Wakra beach, during which large quantities of waste were collected and removed.

AS part of World Cleanup Day, which is marked on the third Saturday of September every year, the Ministry of Municipali­ty and Environmen­t (MME) honoured a number of cleaning workers in appreciati­on of their daily efforts in maintainin­g public cleanlines­s throughout the country.

The ministry also organised a campaign to clean Al Wakra Beach, during which waste materials were collected from the beach and removed.

As part of the celebratio­ns, the MME will launch on Friday a competitio­n on the public hygiene law for the public on its social media platforms with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of hygiene and its role in promoting a healthy lifestyle.

On the campaign to clean up Al Wakra Beach, Assistant Director of the General Cleaning Department at the MME Mohammed Faraj Al Kubaisi said, “The campaign comes within the framework of the ministry’s interest in preserving the cleanlines­s of all beaches throughout the country, as well as its keenness to participat­e in the World Cleanup Day, which is an occasion to raise awareness among the public about the importance of keeping beaches clean.
