AS the devastating wave of COVID-19 unfolded in March this year, multiple businesses across the world came to a halt and the hospitality industry was no exception.

Authentic Pakistani Pistachio’s Restaurant met its inevitable fate too, but only to emerge stronger and readier to fight back the pandemic.

With the aim to better the health of the community by containing the spread of the coronavirus, the Founder and CEO of Pistachio’s Restaurant, Rizwana Abdul Sattar, was faced with a challenge to carefully alter the functionality of the restaurant to fit the needs of the challenging times.

Rizwana has worked with great dedication to establish a restaurant that is known for its sheer authenticity. Driven by her ambition to excel in every endeavour that she embarks upon, Pistachio’s Restaurant is fortunate to have a person at the helm of affairs who stays confident even in the toughest of times, like the present pandemic. With her strength of character, she made the calculated decision of bringing the restaurant’s dine-in to a halt with only takeaway and delivery services opened. Dire times required tough decisions to be taken and with the constant support of her husband, Abdul Sattar, she was able to pull through Pistachio’s lusciously through the lockdowns. Pistachio’s continued delivering the delectable food of its homeland to the Pakistani community and timely deliveries and takeaways with optimum maintenance and food quality were ensured throughout the pandemic.

“Food has a way to reach people’s hearts and our dishes that seek to bring the taste of our motherland in a foreign land do exactly that, which also became the reason of the utmost trust that our customers have in our services. That paved the way for the ongoing orders and all the while, kept us going too,” remarked Rizwana.

“Around the first week of August, the wait of our promising customers came to an end as Pistachio’s become one of the few authentic Pakistani restaurants to restore 30 percent of its seating capacity, which has now increased to 0 percent. The change came about because of the persistence of our customers and the excellent maintenance and streamlined SOP adherence of the staff. All protocols were implemented throughout as per the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) checklist and they continue to abide by it at Pistachio’s. From the staff’s hygiene to optimum table distances, and the use of sanitizers and disposable items, we ensure it all. Implementing social distancing, living up to Ehteraz application’s green status and pre-bookings to avoid crowd gatherings, we make it a priority to implement every gesture for the safety of our staff and customers,” added Rizwana.

Having been operational for approximately five years in Qatar now, Pistachio’s has had a remarkable journey over the years. “We believe we are what we are because of the efforts of our masterly chefs and staff that spare no effort in doing their best. With an accommodating capacity of 125-plus people for community gatherings, Pistachio’s is undoubtedly one of the most well-organised and cherished restaurants for the Pakistani community. Be it the originality of the Lahori biryani, the renowned chicken karahi, the sumptous white sauce pasta, or the classic fish and chips from our rich continental menu, each bite will leave you craving for more. To tease your taste buds, the menu brings a variety of Indian and Pakistani chaats from the classic goll gappa to papri and palak patta chaat. At Pistachio’s, we take pride in our vast menu and authenticity that has time and again brought multiple celebrities like Dr akir Naik, chef Gulzar Hussain, poet Amjad Islam Amjad, Pakistani international cricket team members, and a number of envoys and dignitaries,” said Rizwana.

“Pistachio’s is renowned for its delicious taste and a transitional menu that our customers cherish to the fullest. We are determined to deliver the best, which has kept us going on amidst the toughest of setbacks. As we continue to strive through the pandemic, we also continually strive to ensure optimum quality and delivery to excel the expectations of our resilient customers,” stressed Rizwana.
