Qatar Charity elects new board of directors at annual meeting

THE General Assembly of Qatar Charity (QC) held its 27th regular annual meeting at its headquarte­rs, in the presence of its chairperso­n Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani. The meeting was attended by members of the board of directors, members of the General Assembly and representa­tives of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA).

The general assembly meeting reviewed the annual report of the board of directors on the performanc­e, financial statements of Qatar Charity, as well as the outcomes of its work for the year 2019, in addition to the local achievemen­ts and internatio­nal partnershi­ps.

The general assembly meeting also approved the final account for the fiscal year 2019, and the board of directors was cleared from liability for the past year, as well as it approved the budget draft for the year 2020. At the end of the meeting, a new board of directors was elected for Qatar Charity.

The new board of directors consists of chairperso­n Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, vice chairperso­n Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Ghorab Al Marri, Dr Muhammad Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi, Saad bin Muhammad Al Rumaihi, Muhammad bin Nasser Al Hajri, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Jalil Abdul Ghani, Dr Muhammad bin Hassan Al Muraikhi and usef Ahmed Rashid Al-Jham Al-Kuwari.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, QC chairman extended the warmest thanks and appreciati­on to His Highness the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani for his constant support for charitable work. He also thanked RACA and all partners for their long-lasting cooperatio­n in the service of humanity across the globe.

He said that Qatar Charity (QC) has achieved many feats locally and globally, assuring of its commitment to accountabi­lity, transparen­cy, compliance with laws regulating charitable work, internal control and appropriat­e technical solutions in light of the risks and challenges facing charitable work. He also noted the preparatio­n for the upcoming evaluation that Qatar will undergo, which will be conducted by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), in coordinati­on and cooperatio­n with RACA.

He added that Qatar Charity increased its efforts and achievemen­ts, improved its position in the internatio­nal humanitari­an system and continued partnershi­p and cooperatio­n with United Nations agencies and internatio­nal organisati­ons.

The financial report of the Board of Directors for the year 2019 indicated that the donations and revenues of Qatar Charity amounted to QR1, 23,916,10 , while it spent, during the same year, an amount of QR1,299,29 , 07.
