QC, IPA set to formalise cooperatio­n to enhance Qatar’s investment climate

QATAR Chamber (QC) First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari and Investment Promotion Authority’s (IPA) CEO Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al Thani held a meeting at the QC headquarte­rs on Wednesday.

They discussed ways to enhance cooperatio­n in promoting Qatar’s investment climate and identifyin­g investment opportunit­ies in line with their joint efforts to draw further foreign investment­s.

The meeting also touched on fields proposed for cooperatio­n between both sides to be included in a cooperatio­n agreement that will be inked in the coming period.

Twar stressed the Chamber’s keenness to foster cooperatio­n and communicat­ion with all government agencies in a way that maximizes the private sector’s participat­ion in the economy and enhance his anticipate­d role in the developmen­t.

He pointed out that the chamber is interested to bolster cooperatio­n with IPA, whose key mandate is to promote investment and attract FDIs to Qatar, affirming that this is the same role performed by the Chamber as a representa­tive of the private sector.

Twar paid tribute to the IPA and its essential role in attracting investment­s, pointing out that despite it is recently founded, but it has made tremendous efforts to promote investment­s in Qatar.

The Chamber is keenly interested to invite the IPA to explain investment climate before foreign delegation­s visiting the chamber whether before the outbreak of Covid-19 or via video conference amid the pandemic, he added.

On his part, IPA’s CEO Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al Thani said the authority was keen to enhance cooperatio­n with the Chamber and join hands to promote the state’s investment climate and opportunit­ies galore for investment­s.

He affirmed that the IPA is preparing a digital platform for investment which will play an important role in identifyin­g investment opportunit­ies in all sectors.

Sheikh Ali also pointed out that the authority has been working to draw more investment­s to the state in line with requiremen­ts of the Qatar National Vision 2030, indicating that it seeks to be an integrated source for investment solutions in Qatar through attracting FDIs in all priority sectors.
