THE first batch of Business students (class of 2020) at City University College (CUC) has graduated recently.

The graduation event was attended in person by students and staff with parents and guests participating through oom.

A celebration dinner, which was attended by the students, faculty and guests, followed the graduation ceremony.

The graduating students received their BTEC Higher National Diploma, awarded by Pearson Education (U ) and recognised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Most of the graduates are pursuing their Bachelor studies with CUC partner, Ulster University Qatar.

Richard Hollywood, principal at CUC, addressed the graduates urging them to always challenge themselves.

“eep a positive growth mindset that allows you to consider ways of not only becoming a better person, but being a better person with others. Having

this type of mindset will allow you to learn from mistakes, take risks and keep an open mind to everything you do,” Hollywood said. In his address, Dr Ahsan Chaudhry, head of Academics, stressed the importance of the 3 Cs to guarantee success in life after graduation: Confidence, Character and Creativity.

Graduates, Faisal Abdul Rasheed and Hawraa Abdul Hussein, shared their learning journey on behalf of their class

mates and thanked the faculty, management and staff for their continuous support.

CUC has been in operation for two years but during that time it has begun to establish itself as a modern and dynamic higher education institution that creates opportunity for all. It originally offered BTEC qualifications in Business and recently introduced Entrepreneurship Small Business Management General Computing and Com

puting Applications Development.

CUC developed a partnership with Ulster University (U ), and is now offering another academic pathway leading to a BSc (Honours) degree in Business Studies with Master’s degrees to follow in the near future.

CUC, in partnership with Ulster University, is in the process of building a new state-ofthe-art campus in Lusail City ready to open in August 2022.
