CENG faculty member Prof Bassim named as Highly Cited Researcher for 2020 in engineering
QATAR University Professor Bassim Hamid Hammadi of the Department of Chemical EngineeringCollege of Engineering, has been named Highly Cited Researcher for 2020 for having a significant influence on engineering through the publication of a number of papers, highly cited by his peers, which have been ranked the top 1 by Clarivate Analytics’ Web citations over the last decade.
Recently, he was listed in the 12th edition of We
bometrics as a Highly Cited Researcher (h-index 100) according to the Google Scholar Citations Public Profile. With this achievement, he ranks among the 4,1 7 high-profile researchers of all disciplines as of 2020, based on frequencies in the Google Scholar Citations database.
This is not the first time that Prof. Bassim has received such international recognition. He has been a high-profile researcher in the field of engineering for the last seven years (2014-2020). The Highly Cited Researchers from Clarivate is an annual list of influential researchers in the sciences and social sciences around the world.
The 2020 list includes 3, 9 scientists in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences, including 173 scientists in the engineering field, one of whom is Prof. Bassim. The list also includes 2,493 Highly Cited Researchers for cross-field performance.
The list focuses on contemporary research achievement: only highly cited papers in science and social sciences journals indexed in the Science Core Collection Web during the 11-year period 2009 to 2019 were surveyed. Highly cited papers are defined as those ranked in the top 1 by citations by field and publication year.
Prof. Bassim has successfully supervised the work of 5 postdoctoral fellows, 22 PhD students and 2 MSc students, and more than 70 final-year research projects to be completed. He achieved a milestone of 21 research grants as the lead main investigator. To date, more than 300 articles have been published in indexed journals by Prof. Bassim.
