MoCI announces winners of Umm Salal fish market draw
THE Permanent Committee for Central Markets Management of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in coordination with the Aswaq for Food Facilities Management Company, a Hassad subsidiary, announced the names of the winners for leasing shops in the second phase of the central fish market in Umm Salal after conducting public draw on Thursday.
The total number of lottery winners reached 40 applicants for about 13 different activities. Out of 114 applications, 70 qualified to enter the lottery, while 44 were disqualified for not meeting the required conditions.
The ministry confirmed that the public lottery was conducted on the principle of transparency and equal opportunities and was carried out in accordance with the previously approved requirements.
The committee stated that the winners of the lottery will be contacted and informed of the market regulations and contracts.
The second phase of the central fish market in the Umm Slal area included 53 investment opportunities, including barns for display and sale of sheep, and stores for selling vegetables and fruits, in addition to the existing stores that practice the same activities.
It also included butcheries, selling travel supplies, and selling chilled poultry and their products, in addition to the availability of a veterinary clinic and pharmacy to serve the owners of the barns, and shops for various commercial activities such as the trade of dates and spices, and other commercial activities.
MoCI said that it has worked in coordination with the Aswaq for Food Facilities Management Company to achieve benefit for tenants and consumers by setting up a mechanism that allows the tenant to obtain good investment by granting competitive rental price.
MoCI set operating standards and requirements for determining the value of rents for commercial activities in the market, for the lease period of two years.
