COLLEGE of the North Atlantic Qatar (CNA-Q) celebrated Qatar National Sport Day in a creative way this year amid the new restrictions to prevent the surge in the coronavirus cases. The college launched ‘National Sport Day Virtual Tahadi’ consisting of the completion of 5,000 steps during the day or the equivalent of one hour of any physical activity.

CNA-Q’s students, faculty, staff and families participated in the virtual challenge and posted their achievements on social media channels. The challenge saw the participation of the college’s president along with the schools’ deans.

Commenting on the event, CNA-Q’s President Dr Salem Al Naemi said, “National Sport Day has traditionally proven a very special day for CNA-Q. The college has long been a sport advocate and promoted various sports activities among its students, faculty, staff and the wider community. Today, we faced a challenge with an opportunity, we adapted to the restrictions and demands brought by the pandemic and we confirmed once again that sport is a great enabler, and should become a lifestyle to

each and every member within the community.”

The college boasts state-ofthe-art sports facilities that are also open to the public such as swimming pools, gymnasiums, tennis courts, football field, multi-purpose grass pitch, cricket pitch and new padel courts. The men and women’s varsity teams perform in both intercollegiate and community leagues and competitions, and the FITClub programme is the biggest club on campus offering one-on-one consultations, nutrition advice and exercise programming.

CNA-Q Sport and Wellness also offer students valuable work experience where the department supports accreditations in fitness, coaching and lifeguarding providing student employees work skills that they can use for future employment.

All activities taking place at the college are mindful of the COVID-19 restrictions and prevention measures.
