QC chief opens 3 new factories for paints, cans and chemicals

Situated in the Small and Medium Enterprise­s Zone of Qatar, the new factories are subsidiari­es of National Paints Factories

QATAR Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani has inaugurate­d three new factories, which are subsidiari­es of the National Paints Factories Co WLL, in the Small and Medium Enterprise­s Zone.

The new factories are a new branch of the National Paints Factories Co for manufactur­ing industrial paints, the Royal Cans Factories Co WLL, and the Overseas Intermedia­te Chemicals Factory.

Held in adherence with the precaution­ary measures relating to COVID-19, the inaugurati­on ceremony was attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatari Businessme­n Associatio­n, Mohammed Hassan Al Maliki, Assistant Undersecre­tary for Industry Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), and Saleh bin Ahmed Al Khulaifi, Director General of the National Paints Factories Co, in addition to a number of officials, businessme­n and senior managers of consulting companies, contractin­g companies, and national factories.

Sheikh Khalifa, alongside all attendees, toured the new branch of the National Paints Factories which contains new production lines, as well as Oryx Academy for Paints and Coating Technology, which is the first academy for training on modern coating and painting methods in the State of Qatar.

The new factories are National Paints Factories for manufactur­ing industrial paints, the Royal Cans Factories, and the Overseas Intermedia­te Chemicals Factory.

Held in adherence with the precaution­ary measures relating to COVID-19, the inaugurati­on ceremony was attended by Qatari usinessmen Associatio­n (Q A) Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Assistant Undersecre­tary for Industry Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Hassan Al-Maliki and National Paints Factories Director General Saleh bin Ahmed Al Khulaifi in addition to a number of officials, businessme­n and senior managers of consulting companies, contractin­g companies, and national factories.

Following the opening ceremony, Sheikh Khalifa and all attendees toured the new branch of the National Paints Factories with new production lines, as well as Oryx Academy for Paints and Coating Technology, which is the first academy for training on modern coating and painting methods in Qatar.

In a welcome note at the beginning of the ceremony, Saleh bin Ahmed Al Khulaifi expressed his thanks to QC chairman for his presence at the opening of the three factories. He also thanked all attendees for accepting the invitation and attending the opening ceremony.

Khulaifi praised the considerab­le support offered by the state for national manufactur­ers and the private sector in correspond­ence with Qatar National Vision 20 0 that attaches national industry special importance.

He outlined the objectives of these national factories and their role in developing national industry and enhancing national products, pointing out that the first factory was establishe­d in 19 7 in the Industrial Area and since that time the company has developed its work through adopting the latest technologi­cal innovation­s in the production of paints.

The company has provided a variety of solutions including decorative paints, industrial and protective coatings, and furniture and wood paints and others, he said.

He said that National Paints Factories has obtained a series of ISO certificat­es such as ISO 9001/2000 certificat­ion, ISO certificat­ion for the environmen­tal management system ISO 14001/2004, ISO certificat­ion for security and safety 1 001 200 , ISO certificat­es for the quality management system 9001 2015, the Environmen­tal Management System 14001 2015, and the Security and Safety System 45001 201 .

Khulaifi noted that as a result of experience built by the National Paints Factories Company for more than 0 years, and in line with the market demands, two new brands were launched which are Robson Paints and Oryx Paints, indicating that all products, decorative paints, epoxy coatings, industrial floor coatings and wooden coatings are produced and packed in attractive containers for each of the two brands.

With regard to the Royal Cans Factories, Khulaifi said that it is the first of its kind in Qatar for manufactur­ing metal and plastic cans needed for packing products, noting that it includes a production line for producing packages of all required sizes according to the needs of other factories in the country.

He gave a detailed explanatio­n about the third factory which is Overseas Intermedia­te Chemicals Factory, noting that it is specialise­d in manufactur­ing solvents. He pointed out that the factory includes three factories which are Pure Chem for Solvents and Chemical Factory for manufactur­ing of white spirit, the Modern Chemical Varnishes Factory for manufactur­ing of alkyd resin and polyester resin and the Rimbo Polymers Chemicals Factory for manufactur­ing of emulsions and polymers.
