ICAI Doha Chapter deliberates on Union Budget 2021
The AGM elects new office-bearers
THE Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised a seminar on Union
udget of India 2021, followed by its Annual General Meeting (AGM), on February 14. The event, organised on virtual platform, was attended by more than 150 people, including chapter members and students.
Ambassador of India to Qatar HE Dr Deepak Mittal, the chief guest, was introduced by former chairperson Sandeep Chowdhary.
Dr Mittal described the Union udget 2021 as a “path-breaking budget paving the way to make a selfreliant India”.
The key-note speaker was T N Manoharan, former president of ICAI and former chairman of Canara
ank, India. He briefed the audience about the economic scenario due to COVID-19 pandemic and how the union budget aspires to keep Indian economy back on the growth trajectory, while also allocating a massive $ 5 billion on COVID-19 vaccination.
The AGM elected the new Management Committee for the chapter. The election was conducted by Rukkaiya Pachisa, former chairman of the chapter. Members of the new Management Committee are Nirlep hatt Chairperson, Ankit Agarwal Vice Chairman, Vignesh Kalyanraman
Secretary, Kamlesh Tibrewal Treasurer, and Kishore Alex, Arun Somanath, Dewakinandan Tibrewal and Rakesh ahety Committee members.
In his acceptance speech, Nirlep hatt spelt out his vision for the chapter and gave a brief outline of the future events, activities and initiatives.
Management Committee member Kishore Alex welcomed audience. The vote of thanks was offered by Vice Chairperson Ankit Agarwal.
The Doha Chapter of ICAI is established in 19 1 and is the oldest among the overseas chapters of the ICAI. The current membership of the chapter is approximately

The Chapter is actively involved in enhancing and updating the professional knowledge of its members, local professionals and nonmembers. Doha Chapter of ICAI is the first professional membership body to be registered with Qatar Financial Centre.
