‘Investment opportunities galore for Qatari bizmen in Uzbekistan’
Uzbek delegates led by Dy FM Furqat Sidikov meet with Qatar Chamber officials in Doha
DEPUTY Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furqat Sidikov has invited Qatari businessmen and investors to invest in his country which is replete with a plenty of opportunities in several sectors such as energy, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure.
This came during a meeting hosted by the Qatar Chamber on Tuesday. Sidikov said Uzbekistan is situated in a key location in Central Asia and is a vital gateway for more than 300 million consumers. He said Uzbekistan is interested in developing economic and trading relations with Qatar, affirming that Uzbekistan Chamber is keen to strengthen cooperation with its Qatari counterpart. Sidikov said agriculture is one of the promising sectors in Uzbekistan. As much as 60 percent of its products are exported to Asian states and Russia, assuring that this sector would be attractive for Qatari investment, especially as Qatar is attaching the food security a special importance.
He underscored the importance of establishing a joint business council meeting of both countries’ businessmen with the aim to ease communication and enable both parties to get acquainted with the available investment opportunities.

Sidikov on Tuesday met with Qatar Chamber officials in Doha in a meeting attended by QC First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari and board members Dr Mohamed bin awhar Al Mohamed, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli and Khalid bin abor Al Kuwari. HE Dr. Bakhromjon Aloev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Qatar, was also present at the meeting.
Explaining some of the attributes of his country, Sidikov said Uzbekistan was strategically located in Central Asia and was a gateway to more than 00 million consumers. The country is keen to develop economic and trade ties with Qatar, he said, affirming that the Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan was looking forward to strengthen cooperation with its Qatari counterpart.
Highlighting Uzbek sectors ideal for Qatari investment, Sidikov said agriculture is one of the promising sectors in Uzbekistan, where 0 percent of its products are exported to Asian countries and Russia. This sector would be attractive to Qatari investors, especially since Qatar is attaching a lot of importance to food security.
The visiting minister underscored the importance of establishing a joint business council comprising the business people in the two countries with an aim to facilitate communication and enable both parties to get acquainted with mutual investment opportunities. Sidikov said Uzbekistan has made several legislative reforms to make the country more attractive to foreign investors.
Describing the relations between Qatar and Uzbekistan as distinct, QC Vice Chairman Twar said the time was right to underpin their economic ties to match strength of their bilateral relations.
Kuwari urged business communities in the two countries to enhance cooperation, and form alliances and partnerships that are of benefit to the two nations.
“Qatari investors are eager to learn more about the investment opportunities available in Uzbekistan. Qatar Chamber supports and encourages the development of cooperative relations between the Qatari private sector and its Uzbek counterpart,” he added.
Underlining the investment incentive offered by Qatar, Kuwari said the country has succeeded in developing a sophisticated infrastructure and brought in legislation that strengthened its position as a global centre for business and investment.
He also noted that Qatar Chamber welcomed the establishment of a Qatari-Uzbek business council.
Dr Mohamed bin awhar Al Mohamed said Qatar and Uzbekistan offer great opportunities for cooperation, especially in light of the distinguished political relations between the two countries. Mohamed Al Obaidli emphasized the interest of Qatari business to learn more about the opportunities available in Uzbekistan in food security and tourism.
