Water infra solutions: Madaeen Al Doha enters JV deal with MTD

The JV will take up sustainabi­lity initiative­s to improve the water balance in the Middle East

MADAEEN Al Doha Group, a leading business group engaged in contractin­g, services, sports, media, food and beverage, entertainm­ent and technology, has signed an agreement with Netherland­s-based MTD group to set up a joint venture company, MTD Middle East Central Trading Contractin­g LLC.

MTD is a global company which connects customers to temporary water solutions. They provide onsite safe drinking water and wastewater treatment solutions for customers in events, expos and industry markets.

The availabili­ty of affordable usable water is a big topic in the Middle East, and MTD MEC T C will take up that responsibi­lity with their sustainabi­lity initiative­s to improve the water balance in the Middle East.

The agreement to setup the V was signed by Madaeen Al Doha Group Chairman, Sheikh Faisal bin assim Al Thani and Managing Director of MTD Group Hans Verhoeven, in Doha, recently.

Commenting on the agreement, Sheikh Faisal said, “We are very honoured to be the first joint venture partner of MTD in the Middle East region and also very optimistic about the support that a unique company like MTD can bring to Qatar and the region. Our country will continue to host internatio­nal sporting events in the coming years and MTD will continue to support us to deliver unforgetta­ble experience­s. In addition to that sectors like the oil and gas and public services can really benefit from this unique water solution.”

Managing Director of MTD Group, Hans Verhoeven expressed his excitement “For MTD, this is our first company in the Middle East after our first project for the Asian Games in Doha, 200 . In recent years, MTD has worked regularly in Qatar, including the recent FIFA Club World Cup 2021. Now, it was time for us to take the next step, to setup our own MTD Company with an office and depot to support our growing internatio­nal customer portfolio. We are expecting a sustainabl­e growth for our joint venture MTD MEC T C LLC, not only in view of the upcoming events like the FIFA ARAB Cup and FIFA World Cup but also with businesses in other sectors like public services, temporary housing and offshore.”

Richard van Klinken, Operations Director of MTD Group said, “We are very happy that Konstantin Peunov, Operations Director Middle East, and anco Berkens, Operations Manager Qatar, have taken on the responsibi­lity to grow the MTD business in Qatar. Our objective is local sourcing for the majority of our products and services and to also hire new local talent for our office. We want to provide the right training which will enable them to install and service temporary water infrastruc­tures and water treatment units efficientl­y.”

Kassem Ajineh Polanco, General Manager of the Madaeen Al Doha Group said, “We are proud that MTD has chosen our group for the joint venture, it is a pleasure to work with Dutch companies.
