Talabat facilitate­s donations of QR1,935,650 to support humanitari­an relief efforts in Palestine

TALABAT wrapped up its region-wide initiative to supporturg­ent humanitari­an relief efforts in Palestine by donating 100 percent of all earnings from orders on May 27, 2021 to its longstandi­ng partners, including the World Food Programme and Qatar Charity.

As a result, a donation from talabat regionally totaling QR1,935,650 ($530,315) will be made in support of humanitari­an relief efforts in Palestine.

In addition, customers in Qatar have donated over QR205,000 to Qatar Charity, through the talabat app. All proceeds will be used to support families and children in need of humanitari­an assistance in Palestine.

Francisco Miguel De Sousa, managing director of talabat Qatar, said: “We have been deeply touched by the community in Qatar and how they mobilised to support our humanitari­an campaign. It has been heartwarmi­ng to see humanity in action.”

Tomaso Rodriguez, talabat CEO, shared how grateful he was to receive such overwhelmi­ng support from customers, partners, riders, vendors and employees:

“I would like to extend an immense thank you to everyone who chose to place orders on talabat on May 27 and donated through the app. It was incredible to see our community come together and stand with humanity during this time, and our hearts are full from the reaction we’ve seen across our ecosystem.”

Consumers in Qatar will continue to be able to donate to Palestine and other locally charitable causes through talabat’s in-app virtual charities. Consumers can download talabat on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

All funds are currently being transferre­d to talabat’s long-standing partners - the United Nations World Food Programme, as well as Qatar Charity, Oman’s Dar Al Atta’a and the Kuwaiti Red Crescent through ‘Give’.
