Shady Abdelaziz is appointed director of Sales & Marketing at Sharq Village & Spa

SHAD Abdelaziz has been appointed as Director of Sales Marketing at Sharq Village Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Doha. He will be responsibl­e for leading the comprehens­ive Room sales, MICE, Catering sales, Revenue Management, PR and Marketing efforts for the hotel in this role.

Prior to his current appointmen­t, Shady held several sales leadership roles at Four Seasons Hotel Doha, the last one being Director of Sales. Shady brings over 21 years of commercial and operationa­l experience in the hospitalit­y industry, and has an impressive record of leadership and commitment to quality and service, which will immensely contribute towards adding value to the team. Shady will be responsibl­e for identifyin­g new business opportunit­ies and elevating the brand positionin­g further with his meticulous outlook and passion for driving excellence.

Commenting on his new appointmen­t, Shady said, “It is my absolute honour to join the RitzCarlto­n family and become a part of this dedicated team of ladies and gentlemen at Sharq Village Spa Hotel. As I take over the reins in leading the Sales Marketing division, I am motivated by the fact that this resort is truly one of its kind and holds a special place in the hearts of Qataris, residents and travellers alike. It is my endeavour to raise the bar in providing the finest standards of service to our loyal patrons, who over the years chosen their ‘home away from home’ at Sharq Village Spa.”

A hospitalit­y veteran, Shady began his career in 1999 in Egypt and enjoyed a steady growth from working in Front Office and eventually moving to Catering Sales with reputed hotel brands in Cairo

Sharm el Sheikh. In 2007, he moved to Qatar and joined Four Seasons Hotel Doha as part of the Catering Sales team.

From 2011 to 2012, Shady made a brief detour from hotels and took on a sales role with Dubai World Trade Center, but soon returned to Four Seasons Hotel Doha as Director of Catering Sales Conference Services his niche. From here he was promoted to Director of Sales in 2016 and has ever since been a highly coveted sales resource, eventually coming onboard to join Sharq Village Spa Hotel.

Maintainin­g excellence as a seasoned sales resource, Shady earned due recognitio­n for achieving commendabl­e business results but also being a truly driven leader. A great advocate of ‘putting people first’, Shady carries with him a firm sense of ambition, not failing to equally prioritise emotional intellect, which he believes truly drives our industry.

Shady grew up in Egypt where he studied Hotel Tourism Management at Alexandria University in 1999 and further pursued his passion for education by securing his Master of Business Administra­tion with Distinctio­n from The University of Wollongong, Australia in 2016.
