Youth in Qatar get a chance to view FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy
GENERATION Amazing youth participating in the Generation Amazing – Qatar Foundation Ability Friendly Programme were given a unique opportunity to view the FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy at Qatar Foundation’s Multaqa (Education City Student Centre) in the week marking 500 days to go until the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 kicks off.
With the support of Generation Amazing’s media partner, beIN SPORTS, the event was organised to get youth inspired by the special occasion and continue to develop and learn through their ongoing football for development trainings.
Speaking after the event, Generation Amazing Programmes Director Nasser Al Khori said, “We are thrilled that alongside our partners Qatar Foundation and beIN SPORTS, we were able to bring youth in the Generation Amazing – Qatar Foundation Ability Friendly Programme this once-in-a-lifetime experience as they continue to develop their skills and are further integrated into society through the power of football.”
The joint Ability Friendly Programme was launched last year in partnership with Qatar Foundation and is aimed at bringing essential life skills to youth of all abilities using a uniquely developed football training programme and methodology.
Alexandra Chalat, Community Engagement Director, Qatar Foundation, said: “We are grateful for the opportunity to have the FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy make a stop at one of our Ability Friendly football classes.
“It was such a joy for all the young people involved to have this very special guest at practice. At Qatar Foundation, we are striving to create accessible opportunities in everything we do and these activities contribute to this goal by helping to include our participants in experiences that are both fun and inspirational.” GA Director of Marketing and Communications Moza Al Mohannadi highlighted the positive atmosphere on the day and future plans for youth in the GA – QF Ability Friendly Programme.
“It has been incredibly touching to see the children’s faces light up with excitement at seeing the FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy and we look forward to following their development, as well as introducing them to further experiences to inspire their learning process. Giving them a chance to use sport to become more integrated is one of the many legacies of this innovative programme,” she said.
The Ability Friendly Programme offers the chance for sports opportunities to become more accessible to children with special needs, including those with physical, mental and visual impairments, deafness, autism and other learning challenges.
Having conducted active programming in more than 10 countries and reached over 725,000 youth, Generation Amazing continues to work towards its objective of positively impacting one million lives through football for development outreach and education by 2022.
