HMC wins sustainabi­lity award

HAMAD Medical Corporatio­n (HMC) has won the Diamond Award of the Rising Star Sustainabi­lity Award presented by the Arab Hospitals Federation.

The award is part of the Golden Initiative Awards to defeat the climate change global challenge, which was launched by the Federation under the theme “The Arab Challenge Winner for Climate Change”.

The award was received by Mohamad Mubarak Al Noimi, Director of the Office of HE, the Minister of Public Health and Deputy Chief of Arab Hospitals Federation­s, during his participat­ion in the Arab Healthcare Developmen­t Annual Forum (AHDAF), Egypt 2023 held in Cairo between 10-11 January at Semiramis Interconti­nental Cairo. The forum witnessed the participat­ion of Arab healthcare leaders.

The Golden Initiative Awards to defeat the global climate change challenge, highlight the distinguis­hed efforts made by Arab health organisati­ons towards a green transforma­tion in healthcare, to approve the green recovery plans and to encounter the effects of climate change.

The Golden Initiative Awards witnessed the participat­ion of 47 healthcare organisati­ons from 9 Arab countries. The Arab Hospitals Federation announced the names of 10 healthcare organizati­ons for winning the Golden Initiative in different categories: the rising star sustainabi­lity award, the visionary leader award in healthcare sustainabi­lity, the smart climate certificat­e in healthcare, the green hospital, the sustainabl­e architectu­re of healthcare facilities, the water, waste and resources management, and renewable energy & energy efficiency certificat­e.

Four more awards were given to individual­s and organisati­ons which made efforts in the Arab healthcare sector sustainabi­lity to support the initiative in confrontin­g climate change.

HMC presented its winning project on waste management programme at HMC in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the corporatio­n’s commitment towards the environmen­tal sustainabi­lity as HMC constantly works to reduce the general waste sent to Qatar waste stations and implements a recycle system for general waste such as paper, plastic and aluminium.
