Qatar Equestrian Tour: Maryam excels in 8th Longines Hathab dressage

MARYAM Ahmed Alsemaitt excelled in the Dressage (Medium Level 1) of the 8th Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour at Al Shaqab on Thursday finishing both first and second on the podium.

Maryam topped with bay stud San Francisco with a score of 68.182 points before returning with gelding Copain 10 to finish second with a score of 67.576pts. Jessica Waldon claimed the third place riding Givenchu Utopia and accumulati­ng a score of 67.500pts.

Expressing her delight on the win, Maryam said, “The competitio­n was strong for the top positions.”

She also stressed that Hathab is contributi­ng a lot to the developmen­t of equestrian­ism and has helped increase the number of Qatari female riders and their love for equestrian­ism. It also gives them the opportunit­y to participat­e at higher levels and further their ambition of representi­ng the country at internatio­nal tournament­s.

She is certain that there is now a Qatari team that includes many Qatari female and male riders and are being prepared to reach the highest levels of Qatari dressage for positive results internatio­nally.

In Dressage Prelim (Level 2) competitio­n, Azade APA Triolet stood first on bay mare What A Pleasure getting the best score of 68.661 points. Khalid Sanad Al Nuaimi claimed the runnersup spot with Gop Stop having a score of 68.571 pts. Kyle McCullock finished third on Juul with 68.482 pts.

Abdullah Muhammad Al Marri, Director of the Qatari Equestrian Teams and Director of the School of Future Riders of QEF&MP, said that the technical level of the participat­ing riders was high and in continuous developmen­t and they seem in good readiness to compete in successive rounds towards the end of the season.

And Al Marri added that the tournament has prepared Qatar’s riders well to participat­e in the upcoming internatio­nal tournament­s, explaining that the current season is witnessing more coordinati­on and cooperatio­n between all components of Qatari equestrian­ism, including organizing bodies, riders, horse owners and sponsors.

On Friday the Hathab showjumpin­g will be held with the Small and Medium Tour for individual­s and teams.
