Minister okays school calendar for next four academic years

-

MINISTER of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi on Wednesday issued a ministerial decision, approving the school calendar for the next four academic years (2023-24 to 2026-27).

The ministry said that the decision came in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030, especially the pillar of human development through equipping the State of Qatar’s population so that they can build a prosperous society.

The calendar for the next four years has taken into account a balance in schooling days in line with international standards and global education systems, as well as providing appropriate leaves for students and teachers and holding second round exams at the beginning of the school year instead of taking them during the summer vacation.

It was also taken into account to invest the first week of the first semester from the beginning of each academic year, by allocating three days for the purposes of training and professional development of employees in the school, as well as allocating the Sundays of the second semester for the purposes of vocational training and development of the employees, provided that the start of the students working hours is Monday.

The decision included canceling the second mid-semester leave and replacing it with the first mid-semester leave, (one week for the month of October) after mid-semester exams, to allow students and teachers to take a break to renew activity, as the second semester exceeds official holidays such as Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. The school calendar is so flexible that it allows adjustments in line with the requirements, developments and learning standards with regard to the approved schooling time.
