10 winners approved for Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Education Research Award

AL Faisal Without Borders Foundation (ALF) held the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Education Research Award for the academic year 2022-2023, which is being organised by the Foundation for the seventh year in a row in cooperatio­n with the College of Education at Qatar University (QU).

Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, chairman of the Board of Trustees, and founder and chairman of the Board at ALF; Sheikha Dr Hessa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, dean of the College of Education, QU; Dr Salem bin Nasser Al-Nuaimi, president of Doha University of Science and Technology; Dr Khaled Al-Horr, president of the Community College; Eng Abdul Latif Al-Yafei, general manager of ALF; Prof Dr Ahmed Majriya, assistant dean for Research and Graduate Studies - College of Education, Qatar University; and Mona El Helbawi, general manager of the Education, Culture and Sports Sector at Al Faisal Holding, ARIES Cluster, attended the meeting.

The Board of Trustees approved the list of 10 winners of the award for academic year 2021-2022 in the category of leaders and teachers. The thirdplace winner was selected from research papers submitted from various Arab countries. The winners will be honoured during an award ceremony in the first week of March 2023.

The meeting also agreed to increase the rewards for the postgradua­te students’ category and to return the undergradu­ate students category to be among the award categories in order to encourage university students to research in the educationa­l field, which will benefit them scientific­ally and raise their efficiency.

The Board approved inviting the winners from outside Qatar and a number of deans in the universiti­es of the Arab world to attend the honouring ceremony.

At the opening of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani welcomed the attendees and affirmed his keenness to support the award and strengthen it as one of the most distinguis­hed internatio­nal educationa­l awards, in line with the vision of the Foundation and Qatar National Vision 2030. He also confirmed his happiness that the award covers the Arab world, which allows many researcher­s and educators from all Arab countries to participat­e in it and enrich the educationa­l library with good scientific research.

Sheikha Dr Hessa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani praised the award’s efforts in the past years, expressing her enthusiasm to make the award one of the most notable educationa­l research awards on the national and internatio­nal scale.

It is worth mentioning that Dr Salem bin Nasser Al-Nuaimi and Dr Khaled Al-Horr have joined the Board of Trustees of the Award.

Dr. Salem Al-Nuaimi expressed his happiness to join the Board of Trustees of the award, which is one of the best awards that promote educationa­l research. He added that the research papers this year are distinguis­hed and of high quality, which indicates the spread of the culture of educationa­l research within the Arab world, as the award envisions.
