THE Embassy of Italy, with the support of Italian Fencing Federation, Qatar Fencing Federation, and Aspire Academy, will be organising Beauty In An Act’, a fencing workshop, with Italian Masters at the Aspire Dome, the very same location that in the following days will be hosting the FIE Grand Prix du Qatar in the p e discipline.
The workshop will provide young fencing amateurs and athletes with the opportunity to train in their techniques – learning from some of the most renowned Italian coaches and athletes from the Italian Fencing Federation. They will include Dario Chiad , head coach of the Italian National Fencing Team, trainers Roberto Cirillo and Daniele Pantoni, and Massimo Omeri, head fencing coach at Aspire Academy and at the Qatar Fencing Federation. Alongside them, Italian National Team athletes Giulia Rizzi (winner of the last World Cup round in Vancouver), Roberta Marzani, Nicol Foietta and Gaia Traditi will also be present.
Beauty in an Act’ is a joint initiative resulting from the cooperation between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Cooperation and the Italian Fencing Federation, aimed at promoting Italy’s tradition and excellence in fencing through the involvement of athletes and coaches of the National Team.
Historically, Italy has been one of the first countries in which fencing developed, dating back from the Renaissance until the setting of the sport’s rules in the XIX century. This tradition is carried on in international tournaments and in the Olympic Games, where Italy holds the record of the most medals ever won, with a score of 130.
