MES marks Republic Day with solemnity, patriotic fervour
THE MES Indian School commemorated the 74th Republic Day of India with all solemnity and grandeur at the grass field of the school on January 2 .
Splendid patriotic songs, group dances and tableau depicting the cultural integrity and harmony of the country were rendered by the students to highlight the importance of the day.
Chief guest of the day, K. Abdul Karim, president of MES
overning Body, hoisted the Indian national flag, which was followed by the National Anthem rendered by the school choir.
In his address, the chief guest said, “We are such a great nation having a glorious past for the world to envy. Let us pledge to take our country from strength to strength. Let us also make a solemn oath that we will do all we can to enrich and preserve our heritage and the ethos and values of our motherland.”
Speaking on the occasion, School Principal Dr Hameeda Kadar urged the students to cherish and follow the noble ideals of the freedom fighters as they have a constructive role in bringing about progressive changes in the growth and development of their motherland.
The school choir rendered patriotic songs befitting the occasion. The school Scouts and
uides, members of Campus Care Force CCF and the students of K. , Junior, Boys’ and
irls’ sections waved the Indian national flag enthusiastically with patriotic zest and fervour, thus spreading the message of peace and harmony.
The entire campus came alive with the spirit of patriotism. Students dressed in traditional costumes of various regions of India, majestically paraded along the synthetic track. They represented the northern, eastern, western and southern regions of the country. They were followed by roller skaters and cyclists.
As the current year is observed internationally as the millets year, the members of Campus Care Force, dressed in the costume of chefs, presented a millet stall under the theme From Farm to Plate’ which is an added attraction to the day’s celebration.
The dignitaries present on the occasion included Khaleel A. P, vice-president Hazmal Ismail, general secretary Hashim N.M, secretary M.C. Muhamed, director Cultural Co-Curricular Activities Faisal Mayan, director
Moral Education Islamic Affairs and other esteemed members of the M.E.S overning Board, school officials, parents, well-wishers, teachers and students. Rizwa Fathima and Remya Nandakumar, teachers, welcomed the gathering and proposed a vote of thanks respectively. Harshan V, cultural coordinator of the school, coordinated the event.
