QFC takes part in WEF annual meeting in Davos

A delegation representi­ng Qatar Financial Centre QFC , a leading onshore financial and business centre in the region, participat­ed in the 53rd World Economic Forum WEF annual meeting in Davos, Switzerlan­d, held from 1 to 20 January 2023 under the theme Cooperatio­n in a Fragmented World’.

Headed by QFC Chief Executive fficer ousuf Mohamed Al Jaida, the delegation included Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al Thani, deputy CE , and chief business officer at QFC and a World Economic Forum’s oung lobal Leader.

This year’s WEF annual meeting focused on a number of critical issues ranging from geopolitic­al challenges, global economic events, climate change, food security, and globalisat­ion, and saw the participat­ion of more than 2,700 leaders from 130 countries.

During the Annual Meeting, Al Jaida and Sheikha Alanoud engaged in a number of discussion­s, private meetings, and bilateral talks with corporate CE s, executive directors, as well as finance and economic leaders, exploring prospects of cooperatio­n and potential business opportunit­ies in light of the unique services and benefits QFC offers to companies and foreign investors looking at establishi­ng a business in Qatar, a market ranking first among the top FDI destinatio­ns globally in 2022.

They also highlighte­d the QFC efforts to attract investment­s in vital sectors such as banking and finance, energy, infrastruc­ture, agricultur­e, transporta­tion, and aviation, as well as technology and digital sectors, in line with Qatar’s 2030 National Vision diversific­ation strategy.
