Qatar Philharmon­ic Orchestra concert ‘Frank Sinatra & Friends’ on Saturday

QATAR Philharmon­ic Orchestra (QPO) will host a toe-tapping evening on February celebratin­g Ol lue Eyes and others from the big band and swing era, with Tom Gaebel taking on Frank Sinatra s greatest hits backed by special musical guests.

The concert will take place at Abdull Aziz Nasser theatre in souq Waqif at . pm.

Andreas S Weiser will be the conductor of the orchestra. He is a graduate of the erlin University of the Arts, and was a finalist in the first annual Arturo Toscanini Internatio­nal Conducting Competitio­n held in Italy in 19 5. ased on a scholarshi­p from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), he also studied under V clav Neumann at the Czech Philharmon­ic (19 ). One year later, he became the second conductor to the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Andreas S Weiser has conducted the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, erne Symphony Orchestra, amberg Symphony Orchestra, the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra in Leipzig and the Stuttgart Philharmon­ic Orchestra. He has been a guest conductor at the Opera House in Lille, Opera House in Nice, Staatsthea­ter Kassel, the Prague State Opera, and Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, in Rome, Palermo, arcelona and Madrid (RTVE). He has recorded with the ena Philharmon­ic Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and Virtuosi di Praga. He is a permanent conductor for the Hradec Kr lov Philharmon­ic

and the Czech Chamber Orchestra.

Tom Gaebel is a German singer and leader of a big band named after himself. Gaebel was born on anuary 1 , 19 5 in Gelsenkirc­hen, North Rhine-Westphalia, West Germany, into a musical family. His younger brother Denis G bel plays tenor saxophone in the Tom Gaebel big band. Colin G bel is a singer and guitarist in addition to being a TV presenter and reporter about computer games he is a member of the rock band Mondo Kane. Gaebel started music lessons at an early age. He plays several instrument­s, including drums, violin, trombone, and piano. During high school, he was a member of bands, including two big bands and a rock band called Goresaw. He attended the Conservato­rium van Amsterdam. In October , he received a major in jazz singing from the Conservato­rium. After performing and singing in big bands, such as The oung Sinatras and the Tobias Kremer ig and, he formed his own group in 5.
