QIIB hosts Professional Day for Qatar Academy students
QII welcomed two groups of students from Qatar Academy to spend a Professional Day at the bank s headquarters recently, where they got introduced to various aspects of Islamic banking, banking operations in general, and QII s services and products in particular.
As part of QII s CSR strategy, the bank s hosting of the Academy students involved a lot of activities, focusing on education in view of its positive effects on various aspects of development. QII Chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah al Thani met with the students and emphasised on the banks important role in serving the community and focusing on providing value addition to the Qatari society.
QII Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdulbasit Ahmed Al Shaibei welcomed the students and highlighted the important role played by Qatar Academy as a leading educational institution in equipping the students with knowledge based on high academic standards and providing them the skills needed to pursue higher education in different specialisations in order to serve their nation in the best way possible.
The meeting was also attended by QII Deputy CEO amal Abdullah Al
amal and QII Head of usiness Development and Alternative Channels Sector Omar Abdulaziz Al Meer.
Shaibei wished the students success to achieve their academic aspirations and noted that students have to cooperate with their professors and endeavour to learn either theoretically or practically, to attain their goals.
Taking pre-graduate studies seriously will help students expand their perceptions and choose what suits their future educational and professional orientations and preferences.
During the meeting, the chief executive officer briefed the students about the history of Islamic banking, its inception, and current status generally and within Qatar in particular as it is considered one of the leading countries in Islamic banking, which is witnessing a great level of prosperity in the banking sector.
He stressed that QII will continue its approach to support education in many ways, either by supporting school activities, professional days, and training, or through cooperation with universities and educational institutions in order to offer the Islamic banking experience and encourage innovation and creativity. The fact remains that Islamic banking keeps pace with time.
For their part, Qatar Academy students, during their interactive session, asked many questions and inquiries related to banking, Islamic banking, the differences between traditional and Islamic banking, employment requirements
at banks, certificates, and qualifications required for employees working in the banking sector, in addition to many questions pertaining to banking operations.
As part of the activities of the professional day, Qatar Academy students
visited different bank departments where they were briefed by executives on Islamic banking operations, banking services, banking techniques, and the associated technology, and the importance of cyber security, especially at a time when technology has become
the backbone of most industries, activities, and services.
At the end of their visit, students and their accompanying supervisors participating in Qatar Academy Professional Day expressed their thanks and gratitude to QII for providing them
with the rich opportunity to visit the bank and its various departments and see activities at close quarters.
They stated that they acquired impressive feedback that will help them develop their knowledge and evaluate their options in the future.
