AS part of its efforts to boost national research and innovation capabilities, Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) will host a webinar titled ‘Education, Research and Service – now Startups too?’ on February 8, 2023 from 4pm to 5:15pm.

The webinar stems from ‘The Spotlight On’ Series, which brings together government policymakers, research and innovation funding agencies, academics, entrepreneurs and industry experts to share their experiences and insights and address important issues which impact the RDI ecosystem.
During the webinar, Dr Francis Yeoh, senior advisor at QRDI and professor for Entrepreneurship at the National University of Singapore, will be moderating the discussion between three experts - Prof Dame Fiona Murray DCMG CBE, who holds several positions as William Porter professor of Entrepreneurship, associate dean of Innovation + Inclusion, and MIT School of Management Director, and MIT Office of Innovation HQ, Scholar-in-Residence, The Engine.
The other two distinguished panellists are Ben MumbyCroft, director of Entrepreneurship, Imperial College London; and Dr Lotfi Belkir, associate director of Entrepreneurial Transformation, Qatar University.
Academic institutions play a critical role in educating the next generation of talent needed for society. Increasingly, many institutions are also embarking on various programmes to help their students become innovators and entrepreneurs.
The webinar aims to explore these roles in more detail and understand what best practices exist in some of the world’s leading universities that led to positive outcomes.
Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council was established in 2018 to drive research, development, and innovation (RDI) efforts on a national level in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Second National Development Strategy (2018-2022).
