Back-to-back talent competitions to be held on Philippine Independence Day

THE upcoming Philippine Independence Day 2023 (PID23) celebration will be held in Qatar next month, highlighting Filipino beauty, artistry, and music as well as showcasing the best of Philippine culture through several talent competitions.
Screening and registration for the contests titled ‘Ginoo at Mutya ng Kalayaan 2023’ (the Search for Mr. and Miss PID23), Tagisan ng Bandang Pinoy (Battle of the Bands), Tagisan ng Kundiman (Battle of Kundiman Musical Performances), and Tagisan Sa Sayaw ng Fiesta Filipinas (Battle of Fiesta Filipinas Dance Performances) have been finalised by the event committee.
A slew of competitions, food bazaars, song and dance performances, and additional activities will be held on June 23, 2023, at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel in anticipation of the 125th anniversary of the Philippine Independence and Nationhood.

Ginoo at Mutya ng Kalayaan 2023
One of the PID23 highlights is the Mutya at Ginoong Kalayaan 2023, which showcases the beauty, elegance, and intellect of Filipinos through their culture and costumes.
The Search for Mr. and Miss PID23 is on with a preliminary screening that took place at the Philippine School Doha (PSD) Gymnasium last Friday.
A total of 11 candidates for Mutya and eight candidates for Ginoo participated in the screening, representing various regions of the Philippines clustered into Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The regions represented by the Mutya candidates are NCR, CAR, Region 3, Region 4A, Region 6, Region 7, Region 9, and Region 12. On the other hand, the Ginoo candidates hailed from NCR, Region 3, Region 4B, Region 5, Region 7, Region 9, and Region 11.
All candidates successfully qualified to advance to the official pageantry. A board of judges, composed of Mr. Jyerex Abrasado, Mr. Isaias Marcelo, Mr. Ivan Caceres, Dr. Rosanna Barrera, Engr. Danica Rose Alcantara, and Mr. Mike Saratan, conducted the preliminary screening.
The next phase of the pageant will include rehearsals, official sashing, photoshoots, personality development seminars and workshops before the main competition.
Tagisan ng Bandang Pinoy
All Filipino bands in Qatar were invited to show off their musical talents in the upcoming PID23 Battle of the Bands for a chance to win exciting prizes.
The Pinoy musicians, who passed the screening last Friday, are ready to rock the stage and showcase their music for this epic battle on the PID23 event this June 23.
Tagisan ng Kundiman
Filipino amateur singers residing in Qatar were encouraged to participate in this contest for the best Pinoy Kundiman music performer.
Tagisan Sa Sayaw ng Fiesta Filipinas
All Filipinos in Qatar were urged to join in this contest, in celebration of the Philippines’ rich culture, traditions, and talents through the art of dance.
Contestants will showcase their moves, creativity, and Pinoy pride through their dancing skills.
Registration for the above competitions is officially closed. To promote inclusiveness and sectoral representation, most of the competitions accepted participants who are bona fide members of active Filipino Community (FilCom) organisations.
Grand celebration of Filipino culture and heritage
All Filipino residents in Qatar are invited to come and celebrate the country’s independence together in a festive occasion, filled with fun and excitement for everyone.
PID23 promises to be a remarkable celebration of Philippine culture, and everyone is encouraged to participate and witness the beauty and talent of Filipinos working overseas.
