CCQ wins gold medal in the first Universities Padel Tournament 2023
THE Community College of Qatar’s (CCQ) female team on Thursday won the first place in the first edition of the Universities Padel Tournament, taking home the gold medal after the match played on the University of Doha for Science and Technology courts.
Over two days of exciting competitions, the CCQ’s female team presented a professional performance in competing with the 6 participating university teams representing several higher education institutions in the state.
The tournament final matches were attended by Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Naimi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and president of the Qatar University Sports Federation, and Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, president of the University of Doha for Science and Technology, who handed the first-place gold medal to the winning teams.
CCQ’s female team won the gold becoming the female champions in the first edition of the Universities Padel Tournament, which was endorsed by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) and the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF). CCQ’s female team beat the teams of Lusail University and the University of Doha for Science and Technology. Hanan Faraj Al-Sahouti, Atlal Ali Al-Abdelrahman, Hanan Walid Al-Ali, and Al-Anoud Saud Al-Hanzab were the members of the winning team. The male team included students Thani Ali Al-Hajri, Ahmed Younis Mohammad, Sanad Hani Al-Hadidi, and Ali Ahmed Al-Sayegh.
On this occasion, Ghaith Jaber Alajmi, acting activities & alumni department manager at CCQ, stressed the importance of this victory for the CCQ’s female team, which gives all students the motivation to compete in various university sports and therefore attracts new players in the upcoming versions of this tournament, and other tournaments organised by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF).
For his part, Abdulrahman Khalid, Supervisor of Student Activities at CCQ, expressed his happiness with CCQ winning first place, praising the great sports and technical performance of the male and female teams during the Universities Padel Tournament.
Khalid pointed out that despite being the first participation of the college team, the outstanding and professional performance of the payers qualifies them to reach high ranking positions in the future, promising to maintain first place in the upcoming tournaments, and not to give up this distinguished and high level of sports and technical performance.
For her part, student Al Anoud AlHanzab, one of the players in CCQ’s winning team, expressed her happiness at winning first place, along with her classmates, challenging the difficulties they faced in the beginning, especially since it was the first tournament in which they participated, and the feelings of awe and enthusiasm it included, which resulted in a well-deserved victory with advanced results, in two conclusive matches with a score of 6-0 against Lusail University, and with a score of 6-2 against University of Doha for Science and Technology, while expressing her willingness to participate in the college team in upcoming tournaments.
