-

CITY Center Doha, ‘the first grand mall in Qatar’, has revealed its latest activity for this season -- a unique and special exhibition for all the carpet enthusiasts out there.

The carpets are brought to City Center Doha from Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Carpet Museum, which is an iconic landmark for history enthusiasts since its inception in 2014. The exhibition is currently located in City Center Doha on the 3rd floor in the Arabian Court, behind ‘Brands for less’, and will continue until June 28, 2023.

With the exhibition showcasing over 40 rare pieces, each with its unique tale and history, visitors to City Center Doha are in for a fascinating experience. As a bonus, the uniqueness of the exhibition is further enhanced by the incorporation of variety, showing different carpets, rugs, and saddle textiles for camels and horses from various regions such as China, Iran, Turkey, the Caucasus, and Europe during the Ottoman era.

The exhibition highlights the intricacy of the carpet-making techniques and the geographical origins of the rugs. With the carpets categorised by themes, it makes it much easier for viewers to appreciate the carpets’ aesthetics and symbolism, as natural motifs such as the tree of life and animals, are woven into the carpets fabric.

Chairman of board of trustees of Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Museums, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, expressed his delight in sharing his passion for art, history, and culture. The Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Carpet Museum stands as proof of Qatar’s significant cultural legacy, which showcases a magnificent collection of carpets and rugs. “We eagerly look forward to bringing this exceptional exhibition to City Center Doha, offering visitors a chance to witness these intricate pieces of artistry from up close.”

For the young explorers, City Center Doha is hosting a variety of children’s activities close to the exhibition to allow their parents to enjoy the journey through history while their young ones indulge in arts and crafts-themed activities during the weekends until the end of the exhibition.

This is a unique opportunity for anyone interested in carpets, art, history, or the rich culture of Qatar. The beauty and diversity of carpets showcased at the exhibition guarantee that visitors will come out spellbound by the incredible artefacts on display. The Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Carpet Exhibition sets an example for global practices in preserving and showcasing this authentic art form.

Aside from the exhibition, City Center Doha also promises to bring more exciting activities and events within the mall throughout the year, promising to create a memorable experience for every visitor. Recently, many high-end brands have opened their stores in the mall. Boarders, Plaza Hollandi, and many more brands will soon open their doors at City Center Doha. In addition, Homes R Us also opened its branch, offering a wide range of house needs and furniture.*
