QC donation drive for Sheikh Al-Dabbagh Orphan Care Complex in Tanzania

- TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK

QATAR Charity (QC) has launched a donation campaign to build and furnish the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Dabbagh Orphan Care Complex in Pemba Island in Tanzania. The complex worth QR4.5 million is expected to benefit 2,300 people. The project comes in memory of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Dabbagh, former chairman and one of the co-founders of Qatar Charity, who passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. It aims to complete the journey of giving and achievements made by Sheikh Al-Dabbagh since the beginning of the establishment of the Qatar Committee for Orphan Sponsor Project, which was later renamed Qatar Charity. The 8,094 square-metre complex will provide housing, education and health services for 300 orphans who will be direct beneficiaries, in addition to benefiting the local community adjacent to the complex as indirect beneficiaries of the services of the integrated complex.

The project will consist of a dormitory that will include two buildings, each for orphaned boys and girls separately, and a health centre that will provide all primary healthcare services. The health centre, which is expected to benefit 3,000 people monthly, will include specialised clinics for women and children, in addition to a pharmacy, a laboratory and other facilities. The complex will also include a school consisting of several classrooms, with a capacity of 320 students. The school will have a library, a science and computer laboratory, a teachers’ room, administrative offices and other facilities. The complex will also have a mosque, a multi-purpose hall, an integrated water station, sports fields and an administrative building.

Qatar Charity urges philanthropists in Qatar to donate to the project to contribute to providing a dignified life for orphans and other vulnerable people in Tanzania. People can also donate through Qatar Charity’s website (www.qch. qa/AAD) and app (qch.qa/q/ app), in addition to dialing hotline 44290000 for donating. Donations can also be made at Qatar Charity’s collection points across the country.
