USI marks official opening on The Pearl Island

AT a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 18, United School Internatio­nal (USI) on The Pearl Island was officially opened by Omar Al Nehma, assistant undersecre­tary for Private Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, along with Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad bin Jassim Al Thani, vice chairman of United Developmen­t Company & chairman of the Board of United School Internatio­nal, Kevin McNeany, chairman of Orbital Education

& vice chairman of United School Internatio­nal, and Razan Osman, education sector lead in the Department of Business and Trade, British Embassy.

On the occasion, Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad bin Jassim AlThani said: “Opening United School Internatio­nal is a major milestone for United Developmen­t Company and is part of its commitment to providing residents of The Pearl Island with a completely integrated living community. No doubt, the opening of this school would not have happened without the full support of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, for which we are extremely thankful.”

Kevin McNeany commented: “It gives me immense pleasure to celebrate the official opening of this remarkable school. We can proudly say that our partnershi­p with United Developmen­t Company has delivered a thriving community of students, families, teachers and leaders and we look forward to continuing to work together to inspire, empower and educate our students.”

United School Internatio­nal is a partnershi­p between United

Developmen­t Company (UDC), and UK-based Orbital Education. The school first opened its doors to students in August 20222, and is currently home to 700 students, studying an enhanced British curriculum as part of an outstandin­g internatio­nal education, in a state-of-the-art campus with a capacity of over 2,000 students. United School Internatio­nal will begin its second year of operation on August 27, 2023, with over 1,100 students enrolled. The school has quickly become a major addition to the educationa­l landscape of Doha.
