QFA to hold General Assembly today, elect new president

Electronic voting for QFA’s presidenti­al elections

THE Qatar Football Associatio­n (QFA) will hold its General Assembly on Thursday, June 1st, 2023, at the Al Majlis Hall of Sheraton Doha hotel. The meeting is scheduled to include elections for the QFA’s Executive Committee for the 20232027 term.

In addition to members of the General Assembly from the 18 clubs, the meeting will be attended by Abdullah Hamid Al Mulla, the chairman of the electoral committee, and the members of the committee.

The Electoral Committee has approved the names of the candidates to run in the elections of the Executive Office. The candidates are:

* Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain (Qatar Sports Club) for the presidency of QFA

* Hani Talib Ballan (Qatar Sports Club)

* Muhammad Khalifa Al Suwaidi (Al Rayyan Club) * Hassan Juma Al Muhanndi (Al Khor Club)

* Khalid Abdullah Al Sulaiti (Al Arabi Club)

It is decided that the General Assembly of the QFA will discuss many topics listed on the agenda. During the General Assembly, the agenda will be approved and the appointmen­t of members to review the minutes of the previous meeting that was held on Monday, March 27.

Discussion and approval of the budget, presentati­on and approval of the audited financial statements, and presentati­on of the report of the independen­t external auditor are all on the agenda, as is the appointmen­t of permanent auditors based on the recommenda­tion of the executive committee (if any). In addition to anything else brought up by QFA members or the executive office, plus the president’s closing remarks.

The elections will be held by secret ballot. The candidate who receives the most votes will be elected to the presidency of QFA. The four candidates who receive the most votes will be elected to the Executive Office.

THE Electoral Committee of the Qatari Football Federation announced that it will be using electronic voting in the upcoming elections for the President and members of the Executive Committee.

The elections will be held on Thursday, as part of the regular general assembly.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Abdullah Hamid Al Mulla, has stated that the electronic voting process is one of the best and latest methods and will save time and effort for the 18 members of the QFA, who are eligible to vote.

He also stated that the voting process for President and Committee member positions will not take more than a few minutes for each representa­tive.

According to Al Mulla, the committee thinks it’s crucial to use cutting-edge electronic­s and stay abreast of technologi­cal advances in this field. The

Informatio­n Technology department was commended for their work, and it was noted that the project was ready for use in future elections.
