Malabar Gold & Diamonds earmarks QR2.3mn for ESG activities during Ramadan

EMPHASISIN­G its commitment of being a socially conscious and responsibl­e organisati­on, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the sixth largest jewellery retailer globally, has announced the community welfare activities it will be carrying for the month of Ramadan with a dedicate total amount of QR2.3 million towards the distributi­on of Iftar meals among the needy during the holy month.

These initiative­s are planned in addition to the ESG (Environmen­tal, Social & Governance) initiative­s conducted by the group throughout the year in the 13 countries of operation. The brand will associate with embassies, authoritie­s, NGOs and like-minded organisati­ons to carry out community welfare and empowermen­t acts throughout the holy month, including the distributi­on of Iftar meals and food provision kits to deserving families and individual­s. These endeavours by Malabar Gold & Diamonds are anticipate­d to significan­tly benefit the underprivi­leged segments of our society.

Over 180,000 Iftar meals will be distribute­d as part of this year’s Ramadan food distributi­on drive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore, the USA, the UK, Canada and Australia.

In Qatar, Iftar meals will be distribute­d among labourers in Wakra, Wukair, Shahaniya, Jabiya, Al Khor and Markhya. The meal distributi­on drive will be conducted in associatio­n with Qatar Sparsham, Youth Forum, Cultural Forum, Sanskriti, ICBF and FOCUS Qatar.
