JEDDAH: The British press has shown keen interest in the case of a girl who has accused her Saudi father of misbehaving with her, imprisoning her and shaving off her hair.

The girl, with British citizenship, asked the top British court to help her gain freedom from her father, and return to Britain. This resulted in allegations highlighted by the media.

The judge remarked: “There is a limit to the power of law. There are no bilateral agreements to give the court the right to bring the girl back to Britain.”

The girl, who now lives in Jeddah, has hired a lawyer in London through the British Consulate to file a case against her father in London.

On Thursday, BBC reported that the lawyer for the girl’s father, Marcus Scott Anderson, informed the court that all the allegations made by the girl were not true. He said that the father, M.J., who works as a teacher at one of the universities in Jeddah, had forced her daughter to come back to the Kingdom to protect her from the life of recklessness.

The lawyer said that his client was not ready to discuss the issue, because the British government did not do anything for her when she began ignoring her studies, taking drugs and clubbing.

He said her Saudi father wanted to free her from the immoral life she was leading in Britain. This is why he decided to bring her back to the Kingdom.

The father said he issued this clarification in response to the lies being spread in the British media. He denied the girl’s allegation that he shaved off her hair. She did that herself, he said.

The father said the Saudi government has provided him with all the support against the daughter’s lies.
