- ARAB NEWS

RIYADH: A Kuwaiti journalist expressed his surprise over the increase in the prices of hotels in Taif, compared with other countries, including Jordan and the hotels of Europe.

The Kuwaiti journalist said that the cost for a two-day stay in the hotels of Taif was enough to stay for eight days in Jordan or a week in Europe.

Hamoud Mohammad Al-Baghaili, poet and writer at the newspaper Al-Qabas, shared on his Twitter account the photo of an application for hotel reservations, reserving two nights in one of the hotels in Taif. The photo showed an increase in the cost of the hotels which reached SR4,300 for two nights.

He said that due to increase in prices in Taif, he decided to change his tourism destination to Jordan to stay for eight nights at the same cost. He said that he loved Taif, Abha, Al-Nammas, Al-Baha, and the entire south and all tourism places, but due to this increase in cost, tourism in the Gulf is being harmed.

He told the tourism authority in the Kingdom, “Don’t deprive us of our summer resorts,” he pointed out, alluding to the rise in costs in tourism cities inside the Kingdom.
