No ban on Muslims
It caught my attention — and probably that of your readers — that Arab News on the front page of July 29 published a report under the headline: “Religious Apartheid: Danes seek ban on Muslims.”
I will respectfully have to point out to you and the distinguished readers of Arab News that this headline is misleading and does not correctly reflect the factual description in the report originating from The Associated Press. As correctly explained in the report there has recently been a proposal from one of the Danish Parliament’s nine political parties to consider temporarily to halt immigration from certain countries. As it is also factually quoted in the report the mentioned proposal would not explicitly ban Muslim immigrants.
I must furthermore stress that no such proposal has been formally introduced or decided by the Danish Parliament. The Danish government — which does not include the party introducing the mentioned proposal — has neither discussed, introduced nor adopted such a proposal. taken to ensure people’s safety. We should realize that violating traffic laws only puts us and other fellow motorists and pedestrians in harm’s way.
It is the responsibility of every member of the Saudi society to join hands with the authorities to control the situation. We should instruct our adult children not to drive recklessly. Education, it is said, begins at home. A child gets inspiration from his elders. When he sees his father violating traffic laws and driving recklessly, he also follows in his footsteps.
In other words, we all need to take measures in this regard in our own ways. Instead of relying on the government, we should try to realize the intensity of the issue and its negative consequences and start complying with traffic laws.
