A good development

I read with interest the report “Snow City adds spice to life in Riyadh” ( July 29). It is heartening to note that the government is taking measures to open venues for public entertainment. There is a dearth of sources of entertainment in the Kingdom, which gives rise to several social and psychological issues. Of course, we cannot expect everybody to take his family to different parts of the world or the Kingdom during vacations. Even many Saudis cannot afford to spend holidays abroad or in other city of the Kingdom. In such cases, it is necessary to have different sources of entertainment in all major cities of the Kingdom. Such healthy activities are important for personal growth.

At present people in the Kingdom have only one choice i.e. visiting malls or hanging out at some food outlet.

However, it seems that the situation is changing. The authorities should also introduce theme parks in the Kingdom. These parks could prove to be great sources of income for the government and people would be able to enjoy healthy activities without having to spend huge sums of money.
