These projects are aimed at boosting and developing the role and works of the council to further develop the overall health insurance industry,” said the secretary-general.

He emphasized the important role of health service providers, and urged them to cooperate with the council to enhance and develop the health insurance system by insuring their commitment to the executive list of the cooperative health insurance system, and by providing the best services for all insured people.

The group agreed to hold periodic meetings to activate a means of communication between the council and the insurance companies for the future.

He also stressed their important role in developing the insurance market industry as one of the main tributaries of the economy, pointing out that the number of insured people up to the second quarter of 2016 amounted to more than 12.6 million people, while the number of accredited service providers amounted to 3,655, the number of eligible insurance companies amounted to 26, and the number of approved companies for insurance claims stood at eight companies.

He added that the council has issued a standardized form for disclosure which aims at protecting the rights of the insured by reducing rejections by insurance companies to approve treatment coverage. The standardized form also seeks to determine a fair price for insurance policies.
