IMC, JUH-UGAFCO, PBB clinch openers at Kalayaan Cup Volleyball Cup 3rd Conference
Vying in the six-team men’s division are: Bader International School Jackdaws, team captain Angello Sebastian; Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital Fakeeh Fusion, team captain Sami Abdullah Rasheed; IMC, team captain Kotaiba Sukrieh; Jeddah Blue Spikers, team captain Mark Salarda; Jeddah United Hitters-UGAFCO, team captain Murad Ali; and PPB Jeddah Warriors, team captain Ariel Timpug.
IMC enjoyed an opening day double, beating Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital Fakeeh Fusion 25-20, 25-14 in the women’s division and PPB Jeddah Warriors 25-14, 23-25 and 15-13 in the men’s division.
IMC volleybelles had little trouble disposing of Fakeeh Fusion, banking on strong serving and excellent offense and defense to get the job done. IMC men’s team was extended to a third and deciding set but then rose to the occasion for its initial victory in the tournament.
In the first game, defending men’s champion JUH-GAFCO opened its title defense by beating Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in straight sets 25-11, 25-14.
The PPB Jeddah Warriors volleyball team, under the guidance of team manager Edison Julaton, triumphed over the Bader International School Jackdaws in an exciting three-setter in the second game.
The scoreline was 25-22, 17-25 and 16-14 to PPB.
The four best players of the game to receive a certificate of achievement were Oscar Pimentel ( JUH-UGAFCO), Rhea Mae Siasat (PPB Jeddah Warriors), Genelyn Vallejera (IMC) and Mohammed A. Al Bedaiwi (IMC).
The tournament is organized by Dreamstar Productions for Sports under the leadership of Al Moran Bacleon and supported by sponsors Fawri-MoneyGram, OSN, SMDC, Emirates Airlines, Giordano, Indomie and Pepsi.
