Best-selling author holds workshop with Saudi business people
JEDDAH: The Madinah Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship (MILE), in cooperation with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( JCCI), organized a workshop for Saudi businessmen and women, and a lecture for families, on Thursday at Jeddah Sofitel Hotel.
Dr. John Gray, author of the best-selling book “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus,” gave a workshop and lecture on how best to manage work and family relationships. It was his first visit to the Kingdom.
Gray said the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) philosophy and traditions influenced him. “It attracted me. That is a takeaway for me for my own growth. When I go anywhere I try to meet people and discuss what is important to them, and understand what their situation is and learn from them,” he said, adding that Saudi culture is generous, compassionate and merciful.
“My information helps people who are looking for answers to have a better relationship between them, to better understanding and compassion and wisdom,” he said.
Women’s dignity lies in recognizing and appreciating her capabilities and talent in every walk of life, Gray said, adding that women are better appreciators than men.
Women can de-stress by talking to their husbands or other women, he said, urging men to give women room to talk about their problems, to understand what they are going through, and to ask what they should do to make them feel better.
Dr. Mohammed M. Mahmoud, MILE executive director, told Arab news that the event was organized because of the high rate of divorce and family problems in the Kingdom.
He said women’s role in the workforce is increasing in line with Vision 2030, so they should know how to handle stress at work to perform better. He expressed hope that Gray’s ideas will help solve Saudi family issues.
