QATIF: A man was shot and wounded in Qatif on Thursday.

This is the fourth time that Nabieh Ibrahim — a former member of the Qatif Municipality Council — has survived an attempt on his life.

According to witnesses including some relatives, masked men came riding in a car and fired at the vehicle Ibrahim was driving after they failed to stop him by force, according to Al- Watan newspaper.

In the process, Ibrahim was shot in the back and in a thigh, but is in a stable condition, the newspaper said.

The incident happened on Al- Nasera Street in Qatif when the assailants in a Chevrolet Caprice blocked Ibrahim’s car and asked him at gunpoint to get out of it.

As Ibrahim tried to get away, the criminals started shooting at his vehicle.

Ibrahim’s family said in a statement after the attack that the attempt on his life is a criminal act designed at eliminating from the community active actors and loyal sons that work for everybody’s wellbeing. In this case, the attempt was made at a person who made much sacrifice for the community’s stability.

The family denounced the cowardly, inhumane act, and said the community must take action against such criminal acts and work to protect the society and the security of the nation.

At the same time, perpetrators should be brought to justice and given the stiffest punishment.

Ibrahim, who is known for his numerous social activities in Al-Awamiya and through his engineering office and his work on a project in Al- Masoura neighborhood there, has been targeted three times in as many years.

One was an attempt at setting fire to his house and another at torching his office in the Al- Awamiya Council.

The third attack was to bulldoze the buildings on his father’s farm.

Eastern Province Police spokesman Col. Ziyad Al- Riqati said that “at 10: 30 p. m. on Thursday, a man in his 50s living in Al-Awamiya came to a police station with bullet wounds and was taken to hospital. He said he had been shot at by gunmen who chased him as he was driving his vehicle from Al-Awamiya to Al-Qadieh town.

Al- Riqati said the police in the Qatif Governorate are searching for the perpetrators of the attack, who will be held accountable for their act.
